Princess Juliana International Airport is the island of Saint Maarten's main airport, what makes this airport a little different is its short landing strip — only 2,130 metres / 7,000 ft, which is barely enough for heavy jets such as a Boeing 747 or an Airbus A340.
The planes approach the island flying extremely low, around 10–20 m / 30-60 ft, right over Maho beach. This is an awsome sight and perhaps worth a visit to Saint Maarten's to witness and experience it first hand.
